What is Meditation?


Meditation means to contemplate, to go within and still the mind. When your mind is quiet, you discover that underneath the ‘busy-ness’ of our everyday lives is a deep inner peace, a personal oasis of stillness where you can rest and recharge. At Relax for Health, we demystify meditation with our very simple and practical approach that is suitable for everyone.

With a little practice, commitment and encouragement, you may be surprised how quickly you can begin to feel the powerful benefits of introducing meditation into your life.

What’s different about meditation with Relax for Health?

During Relax for Health meditation, you sit on an ordinary chair and start with some very gentle stretching. Once your body is beginning to feel comfortable, we gently and expertly guide you to use everyday sounds, thoughts, feelings and even any aches or pains in your body… as reasons to relax into meditation... with no need for ‘efforting’ or resisting any thoughts or feelings that arise. It really is that straightforward, no need to force yourself to ‘focus’ or ‘concentrate’, you learn to just simply guide yourself into a still and quiet place.

It can take a while for the body and mind to get used to accessing this restful place, everyone is different. For some people it can happen very quickly, and for others it can take a little longer. All our courses include an opportunity for ongoing feedback, which allows us to give individual support, guidance and encouragement.
