‘Step into the Void’, a one-day retreat with Marion Howells of Relax for Health
‘Resting in the wonderful, safe, uplifting energy, gave me a huge boost. The gentle mind exercises allowed thought provoking questions and answers to float through my conscious mind, changing how I see myself at the present moment and (helping to) release what I no longer need. I would thoroughly recommend this to everyone.’ Brenda Howard ~ participant
In past years, Marion has usually begun the New Year by hosting a Vision-Questing day, an opportunity for people to spend some time in stillness to gain clarity before setting their intentions and goals for the coming year.
However, the current economic climate is yet another example of how we are being faced with greater uncertainty than ever before, and so it seems important that we learn to become more comfortable with the ‘unknown’, the place where we cannot find solace in the illusory external things of the world, and instead go inside to find the timeless stillness that underlies everything.
So while it is still very important to make our plans, set goals and have objectives towards which are progressing, the invitation on the ‘Step into the Void’ 1-day retreat is to spend some time resting in a place of contemplating...
‘What if the past and the future are not what they seem, not what I want them to be, what if everything were out of my hands?’
…and from that place, to then perhaps consider our level of attachment to the future outcomes and the past stories where we can sometimes invest a lot of our energy. In the same way that Byron Katie asks ‘Who would you be without your story?’, the question here is ‘Who would you be without your perceived past or your expected future?’. As Marion says, the opportunity is to spend a day out of time, away from the past and the future, and to rest in the space in between...
‘When there is a willingness to rest in the void or the unknown zone, it reveals itself as a place of deep peace and infinite possibilities.’
So, if you would like to get a whole new perspective in 2009, then this day of meditation, self-enquiry, rest and contemplation may be just right for you. In the words of some previous participants…
‘The day was perfect… wonderfully opening. The perfect homecoming to wonderful me.’ Dawn Hubbard ~ Police Staff
‘A perfect day’ Marilyn Hodson ~ Counsellor
